A camera (and yes, it has macro mode). This was one of two models I looked at (after weeding out dozens of others). The Nikon Coolpix was another good option, but a lot of people complained that the power button was too sensitive, causing the camera to come on and waste battery power frequently. So, I went with this one, which also had great reviews.

Just for fun. I know you'd wear it because you're nerdy enough, but you're not geeky enough to buy it for yourself. In the end, you know you'd love it because people could ask you about it and you can safely geek out about a great game without having to do any work. ;)

I know you enjoy doing these things, especially when we do them together. I think you'd enjoy a game like this.

I know, you're thinking, "I don't need or want this."
You know what? You may be right, but you do need a laptop, and this one would suit you just fine. Actually, this one is temporary. Once Asus releases the next one (identical, but with over eight hours of battery life), both of our wishlists will have the new one in stead of this model.
